In IPL T20 Cricket, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Hosts Chennai Super Kings by five wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium last night. Chasing a target of 155 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad overhauled the score for the loss of five wickets in 18.4 overs. Ishan Kishan with 44 runs off 34 balls was the top scorer for Hyderabad.


 


For Chennai, Noor Ahmad scalped two wickets. Earlier, put into bat, Chennai Super Kings were bowled out for 154 runs in 19.5 overs. Dewald Brevis made valubale contribution through 42 runs off 25 balls for Chennai. Harshal Patel took 4 wickets for Hyderabad. Harshal was adjudged player of the match. Today, Hosts Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens at 7.30 this evening.

India finish ISSF World Cup Peru leg in 3rd place with 7 medals

India finished their campaign of the Peru leg of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in third place in the overall standings with a total of seven medals: two gold, four silver and one bronze. Simranpreet Kaur Brar won the silver medal in the women’s 25m pistol event to end the country’s campaign on a high. This was her first medal at the mega event as well. While the USA also ended with seven medals, they edged ahead of India to take second place, courtesy of a higher gold-medal count. China finished on top of the standings with four golds, three silvers and six bronze medals.


 


This was the second shooting World Cup this season. India had won eight medals – four gold, two silver, and two bronze – at Buenos Aires earlier this month and finished second.

In IPL T20 Cricket, hosts Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 9 wickets at Wankhede Stadium last night. Put in to Bat first, Chennai Super Kings posted 176 for 5 in their stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai chased down the 177-run target with ease, losing just one wicket in just 15.4 overs. Rohit Sharma led the charge with a stellar unbeaten 76 off 45 balls, marking a return to form, while Suryakumar Yadav smashed a rapid 68 off just 30 deliveries. The duo’s explosive 114-run stand ensured a commanding victory for Mumbai Indians, with 26 balls to spare. Rohit was awarded Player of the Match, his 20th such honour in IPL history, the most by any Indian player.

 

 

In another match of the day, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings by seven wickets at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Chandigarh. Chasing the target of 158 runs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru hit 159 runs for 3 wickets in 18.5 overs. Earlier, put in to bat, Punjab Kings scored 157 runs for 6 in the stipulated 20 overs. 

 

 

Today, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will clash at Eden Gardens in Kolkata this evening. The match will begin at 7.30 pm.

ISSF World Cup 2025: Rudrankksh, Arya win silver in Air Rifle Mixed Team

In shooting, India’s 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team duo, Rudrankksh Patil and Arya Borse, secured a silver medal at the ISSF World Cup in Lima, Peru. The Indian pair lost 11-17 to Norway’s Jon-Hermann Hegg and Jeanette Hegg Duestad in yesterday’s gold medal match.


 


This marks India’s third silver medal at the Lima World Cup, adding to the country’s tally of two golds and one bronze. India currently ranks third in the overall medal standings, behind China and the United States.

Arjun Babuta wins silver at ISSF World Cup 2025

In shooting, Indian shooter Arjun Babuta narrowly missed out on a historic gold medal at the ISSF World Cup 2025 in Lima, Peru, after a nail-biting 10m Air Rifle final that saw him finish just 0.1 points behind reigning Olympic champion Lihao Sheng of China.


Babuta had to settle for silver but earned widespread praise for his grit and determination.


Babuta, who led the competition for most of the final, put up a remarkable performance under pressure but was ultimately edged out in the last few shots by Sheng, who claimed gold.


Earlier, India enjoyed a dominant run in the 10m Air Pistol events. Suruchi Inder Singh emerged as the standout performer, claiming two gold medals one in the women’s individual event and another in the mixed team event alongside Olympian Saurabh Chaudhary.


In the women’s 10m air pistol final, Suruchi topped the podium with a score of 243.6, edging out India’s shooting star Manu Bhaker, who secured silver with 242.3.

In IPL T20 Cricket, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Rajasthan Royals by just 2 runs in a close match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur last night.

 

 

Chasing a target of 181 runs, Rajasthan Royals fell short, finishing at 178 for 5 in the stipulated twenty overs. 

 

 

 

Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 74 runs. Avesh Khan took 3 wickets for Lucknow Super Giants and was named Player of the Match.

 

 

 

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants chose to bat first and scored 180 for 5 in twenty overs with Aiden Markram made 66, Ayush Badoni hit 50, and Abdul Samad added a quick unbeaten 30 runs.

 

 

For Rajasthan Royals, Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 2 wickets, while Archer, Sandeep Sharma, and Tushar Deshpande took one each.

 

 

This was Rajasthan’s fourth straight loss, placing them eighth with 2 wins from 8 matches. Lucknow Super Giants now sit at fourth with 5 wins from 8 games.

 

 

In another game, Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in Ahmedabad. Chasing a target of 204 runs, Gujarat Titans got to the target in 19.2 overs, with the help of Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 97.

 

 

Earlier, Delhi had posted 203for 8 after being put in to bat first. With this win, Gujarat Titans topped the points table, pushing Delhi Capitals to second.

 

 

Today, Punjab Kings face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Chandigarh at 3:30 PM, and Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai at 7:30 PM.

In shooting, Indian shooters drew a blank at the ISSF World Cup in Lima, Peru, yesterday, with medal chances slipping in the 50 metre rifle 3 positions and skeet events.


 


In women’s 50 metre rifle 3p, Shriyanka Sadangi was the lone Indian finalist, finishing eighth. Sift Kaur Samra, last week’s gold medalist in Buenos Aires, failed to qualify. In the men’s event, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar, and Chain Singh placed 18th to 20th in qualification.


 


 In skeet, Raiza Dhillon finished fifth in the women’s final, becoming the first Indian shotgun finalist this year. Anant Jeet Singh Naruka placed 120th in men’s skeet qualification.


 


Earlier, India excelled in the air pistol. Suruchi Inder Singh and Saurabh Chaudhary won mixed team gold, while Suruchi also clinched women’s gold. Manu Bhaker and Ravinder Singh lost the mixed team bronze match to China.

Indian women Hockey team for Australia tour announced, Salima Tete to lead

Hockey India today announced the 26 member Indian Women’s team squad for the upcoming tour of Australia, scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 4 at the Perth Hockey Stadium. The five-match series will see India face Australia A in the first two games, followed by three matches against the senior Australian team.

The squad will be led by dynamic midfielder Salima Tete, with experienced forward Navneet Kaur serving as vice-captain. Seasoned goalkeeper Savita and young talent Bichu Devi Kharibam will share responsibilities between the posts.

The tour will serve as a crucial preparatory assignment ahead of the team’s European leg of the FIH Pro League 2024-25, set to be held in June.

In Football, Mohun Bagan Super Giant clinched the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 title following a 2-1 victory over Bengaluru FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata. After a goalless first half, Bengaluru took the lead early in the second when a dangerous cross from Ryan Williams deflected off Mohun Bagan defender Alberto Rodríguez for an own goal in the 49th minute. However, Mohun Bagan struck back when a handball by Chinglensana Singh resulted in a penalty.

 

Jason Cummings stepped up and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner in the 72nd minute to level the score. Six minutes into extra time, Greg Maclaren delivered the decisive blow for Mohun Bagan. Capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Bengaluru FC, Maclaren unleashed a powerful strike into the net, sparking celebrations across the stadium and sealing a memorable title win for the Kolkata giants. This was Mohun Bagan’s second ISL title, following their maiden triumph in the 2022-23 season. They also became only the second team, after Mumbai City FC in 2020-21, to win both the League Winners Shield and the ISL Cup in the same season.

Archery: Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Rishabh Yadav clinch gold medal at World Cup Stage 1

In Archery, the Indian duo of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Rishabh Yadav clinched the gold medal in the compound mixed team event at the World Cup Stage 1 in Florida, USA. The pair edged past their Chinese Taipei opponents, Huang I-Jou and Chen Chieh-Lun, 153-151, in a thrilling final last night. The Indian team got off to a shaky start, losing the first and second series 37-38 and 38-39, respectively. However, they mounted a strong comeback in the third series, winning it 39-38, powered by two perfect 10s and an ‘inner 10’.


 


Riding that momentum, they dominated the fourth and decisive series 39-36, sealing the win with an aggregate score of 153-151. The victory marked Rishabh’s maiden World Cup gold, while it was the 11th gold for Jyothi at the event. Notably, the Indian pair has also become the first-ever champions in the compound mixed team category since it was officially included as an Olympic event. The International Olympic Committee recently approved the inclusion of this discipline for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
