In Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that several politicians, journalists and Government employees are illegally occupying Government accommodations in both Srinagar and Jammu. Our Correspondent reports that responding to a query by MLA Abdul Majid Larmi, the Government replied that there are some accommodations both at Srinagar and Jammu under the unauthorised occupation of politicians, journalists, and employees. The MLA had sought clarity on whether a considerable number of influential individuals were overstaying or occupying estate accommodations without proper authorization. However, the response did not name the individuals, but it did note that the Estates Department has been instructed to initiate eviction proceedings against such occupants under the J&K Estates Department (Allotment of Government Accommodation) Regulations, 2004.
